Justin Zzyzx is a local resident of Downtown Los Angeles though many may know him better as curator of the Zzyxz Gallery of Natural Minerals and his wondrous knowledge and collection of rare minerals, stones, elements. fossils and other geological oddities.
Now with the Zzyxz Gallery as part of the Temple Of Visions, visitors can find natural works of art to ponder and purchase while exploring the Temple located on 7th and Spring.
In the mineral world, Justin Zzyzx is famous as the creator of The-Vug.com and The Vug Quarterly Magazine. For the past 11 years, Justin has devoted his life to the grainy miracles and support of various trade shows and dealers around the globe.
A wealth of information, Justin has the uncanny ability to tie everything together; bringing understanding about minerals and various rocks and how each of us has been affected by or tied into them.
Justin describes him self as a auto dyadic. Meaning he doesn’t like others to necessarily teach him, but learns by observing, utilizing books, and experience.
Too add to Justin’s mystique, his uncanny ability to visualize and enact his next move. His earthly exhibits downtown have also brought him national fame.
His newest exhibit entitled, Fabric and Stone features two artists, Neffra Matthews and Susan Judy. They have four pairs of work, Susan doing stone inlay and Neffra copying the design in fabric.
“I commissioned this show last year and each piece has been reserved as soon as it is revealed.”, says Justin.
Both artists are professional geologists and they are both going to be at Art Walk. It is going to be a fun show at the temple this month!
Jimmy Bleyer, the owner of the temple has shown many visionary art works - visionary art works involve cosmic or spiritually influences in the process of the art’s creation.
Jimmy will be having his first solo show at the temple, curating artist Michael Divine in November and welcomes the new annex which opened last July sharing in Justin’s vision for the new annex being called the Meta Zzyzx at The Temple of Visions.
Zyzzx says he loves LA, “I always wanted to live here and the gallery needed to be either, here, Los feliz, Venice or Santa Monica…We decided for here.”
